Dynamic Susceptibility Contrast-Enhanced Perfusion Mr Scan
RMS, the radiology scanning specialist, has been contracted to complete a complex MR scan to provide advanced neuro imaging analysis. The Dynamic Susceptibility Contrast (DSC) Enhanced Perfusion MR Scan is a unique and highly specialist type of MR scan that enables brain surgeons to better understand activity surrounding a brain tumour prior to surgery.

DSC MR imaging is a valuable tool in the assessment of intracranial mass lesions. It provides physiological information regarding tumour microcirculation and hemodynamics that is not provided by conventional MR imaging, through parametric maps of cerebral blood volume and cerebral blood flow.

MR perfusion imaging can be used for both assessing brain tumour grade and monitoring for tumour recurrence in previously treated patients. The minimally-invasive scan can accurately diagnose recurrent brain metastases after radiotherapy.
