The RMS partnership with the NHS has taken on a new dimension. In a display of solidarity and determination, an RMS radiographer has joined his NHS colleagues, and is gearing up to participate in the Bakewell Ultra marathon, a gruelling 100-kilometer race across the Peak District National Park.
Taking place in July, the team is embarking on the challenging endeavour to raise funds for the charity Refuge, in memory of their colleague, Alexis Karran. As they prepare to tackle this formidable distance, they are calling upon the support and generosity of individuals to contribute to their JustGiving page and help make a difference in the lives of those affected by domestic abuse.
Alexis Karran was a Radiographer at Tameside Hospital who was tragically killed in November 2022.
Alexis was a warm, generous, fun-loving friend and colleague to everyone at Tameside hospital. She specialized in Nuclear Medicine and was a member of Radiology for 15 years.
In her memory, Chris Lennon (RMS), James Nolan (T&GNHSFT), and Steve O’Donoghue (T&GNHSFT) have taken up the challenge to raise funds in support of Refuge.
The Bakewell Ultra Challenge is an arduous race that covers a staggering distance of 100 kilometres through the breathtaking landscapes of Bakewell, Derbyshire. The route encompasses diverse terrains, including steep inclines, rocky paths, and winding trails, putting participants’ physical and mental endurance to the ultimate test.
The Refuge charity provides life-saving services to those affected by domestic violence and abuse. They offer a range of vital resources, including emergency accommodation, helplines, counselling, legal advice, and advocacy services. By supporting Refuge, the team hope to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals and families affected by domestic abuse, offering them the support and safety they urgently need.
