For our NHS Trust customers we provide a dedicated on-call service to make sure patients’ scans will not be cancelled due to an unforeseen staff shortage.
NHS Trusts that have a contract with RMS will benefit from minimising last-minute cancellations or radiographers shortages, ensuring that diagnostic imaging lists will always be completed.
With an ongoing shortage of radiographers and an additional 4000 needed to run the Government’s planned Community Diagnostic Centres (according to the Department of Health), the shortage of radiographers is a national issue.
To address this issue, RMS provides a seven-day-a-week Radiology on-call service for its NHS customers. This service is designed to ensure that NHS Trusts always have access to experienced and highly qualified radiographers, who can cover any gaps in the rota, ensuring that all diagnostic imaging appointments are completed on time.
The on-call service provided by RMS is highly flexible and can be tailored to the specific needs of each NHS Trust and RMS to provide radiographers to cover the range of diagnostic imaging – CT, MRI and ultrasound scans.
Clinical Director Bill Bailey commented “We know that sometimes unexpected emergencies, illness and complications mean that radiographers are not always available for their planned shift. To make sure that patients don’t suffer from cancelled diagnostic imaging appointments, we have a guaranteed 24/7 on-call service which ensures that any gaps in the schedule are covered. This service has been well received by the Trusts, who can relax knowing that their radiology list will be complete.”
